Who We Are

Upholding Life & Changing Lives

For Over 30 Years

The heart of our ministry is to uphold life and see lives changed through the Gospel message as we continue being a voice for the unborn and a source of hope for the hopeless. The practical material assistance we offer complements the emotional and spiritual help women and families receive from Life Saver Ministries as we strive to extend God’s love in both word and deed reaching more souls with the message of life!

About half of all pregnancies in the U.S. are unintended, and of those, 4 in 10 end in abortion. Established in 1985 to be a resource for women facing unplanned pregnancy, we help meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those we serve. We seek to empower women to choose life for their unborn child and to embrace abundant life through Christ for themselves

We are a voice for the unborn and abortion vulnerable by offering a crisis pregnancy helpline (518-725-5777) that serves those wondering if they are pregnant, those with abortion questions, or others suffering from a broad spectrum of post-abortive issues. We also utilize billboard and social media campaigns, as well as other Internet-based mediums, to make ourselves available to pregnant women in their time of need; we offer sound, truthful counsel, hope and help.

New York abortion laws are less restrictive than those in many other states – permitting babies to be aborted within the first 24 weeks of life. What’s worse – NY does not have any of the major types of restrictions—such as waiting periods, mandated parental involvement or limitations on publicly funded abortions—often found in other states. We are clearly in a location of great need, so we must be proactive. We seek to reach young people with the message of life in hopes of deterring them from making destructive choices.

Being actively involved with the youth in our community is key to helping them find their identity and self-worth in Christ. Through the numerous programs at our Soulutions Center, we strive to develop strong bonds with the families and young people we serve working diligently to see that they are grafted into vibrant local churches laying the foundation for breaking the bonds of generational poverty, abuse, and neglect. Further, we collaborate with local foster care agencies to engage the church’s response to the growing need for both temporary and permanent placement through adoption of children in foster care seeking to be faithful to the commission of caring for the helpless.

Realizing that the choice for life is where our work begins rather than ends, we are actively engaged in providing for the physical and spiritual needs of those we serve. This support is particularly important for low-income women who comprise a large portion of our client base; from 2006-10, 46 percent of births to women whose family income was less than 150 percent of the federal poverty level were unintended. New mothers need to know that once they make that vital choice of life, they will not be alone.

Our Soulutions Center has become a community of care for women, children and families. We give mothers-to-be and new moms the materials they need to take care of their babies – and themselves. This is a hand-up, not a hand-out, in that we establish accountability through earned benefits for class and workshop attendance in an effort to both empower and encourage through the Gospel All of our clients are offered the following services that help put them on the road toward self-sufficiency and lead them to embracing God as their ultimate Provider:

  • Free pregnancy testing
  • Life skills classes
  • Bible study
  • Counseling and discipleship
  • Community resource referrals
  • Career counseling
  • TLC (the love of Christ) program provides clothing, diapers, bottles, hygiene items, formula, and other necessities
  • Future offerings: literacy and GED classes for women

The childcare we provide during several of our classes is a huge component necessary to ensure ample attendance; in addition, it is an opportunity to love and care for children as we share Bible lessons and show unconditional love.

Surrounded by a culture of death and despair, we seek to promote a culture of life by pointing to the Author of life itself and promoting His view on the intrinsic value of every person created in His image. Abortions in New York represent 13.1% of all abortions in the U.S., while in 2011, of the more than 441,000 women in this state who became pregnant, 31% of their babies were aborted. It’s vitally important that we continue our work in cultivating awareness of the abortion issue within the church and our communities.

We offer pro-life materials to churches and schools – reaching nearly 200 high school seniors in 2015 – in hopes of shedding the light of truth on the abortion issue and prompting the Christ-like response rooted in love and grace to those facing this choice or living with its impact. We recognize that an open dialogue about abortion is essential to bringing about cultural shifts that protect human life at every stage of development.

This ministry is truly a partnership of God’s people as we exist and continue only by God’s grace and faithful provision through His people. Please contact us to find out more about how you can be part of this growing ministry.

Confused? Think no one cares? We care, and we want to help. Life can be hard. Sometimes things happen that we don’t expect, and sometimes we just make bad choices. We’ve all been there. If you’re struggling for any reason right now, we want to help. We’ve been there, and we care.

Do you think you might be pregnant?

Are you pregnant and wondering what to do?

Are you struggling after having an abortion?

Is it hard to care for your little one?

As a post-abortive woman, I’ve felt for years that I can’t speak of this pain and regret in my life. To have my church begin to talk about abortion has brought me and others so much healing and I know it is helping to keep others from making that regrettable choice. Knowledge is power.

Finding out I was pregnant was so scary. I really didn’t know what to do. When I went to the Soulutions center they helped me to know that I’m not alone and have helped me so much. Now I can’t imagine my life without my daughter.
–this place is a life saver.
